Silver Ships Named Mobile Area Chamber of Commerce Small Business of the Year

Theodore, AL (Nov. 19, 2021) – Silver Ships, Inc. has been named as the Mobile Area Chamber of Commerce Small Business of the Year.

A volunteer committee reviewed and evaluated all submissions and choose three finalists from information provided regarding: Business Growth, Operations and Impact; Innovation and Entrepreneurship; Business Strategy; Customer Service and Market Strategy; and Community Involvement.

“We are proud to be named as Small Business of the Year, and the recognition is a testament to our entire team’s hard work and commitment to our customers and community,” says Steven Clarke, CFO and co-owner of Silver Ships. “It is an exciting time in the marine industry and for our company, as we continue to build high quality aluminum workboats for customers across the United States and internationally. We appreciate the opportunity to celebrate our accomplishments, employees, customers, vendors and Mobile-area roots.”

Silver Ships persevered through a challenging 2020 to reach sales goals and gain new customers. 2021 has seen Silver Ships bring a record number of vessels to production and win multiple bids, including a recent $8.2 million contract award from the U.S. Navy and U.S. Coast Guard.

These successes can be attributed to the team’s commitment to strong customer service; the company’s solid financial position; a steady pipeline of projects and leads; a hard-working team; solid relationships with partner outfitting vendors; and overall leadership and guidance from the top down.

The criteria for entry into the Small Business of the Year Awards includes:

• In business for more than five years
• Mobile Area Chamber member for three years
• 100 or fewer employees
• Solid financial base
• Demonstrates sales growth/profit, unit growth, new product line, growing number of employees and/or innovative initiatives
• Evidence of good business practices
• Community service contribution(s)
• Must be a privately-owned, for-profit entity (non-franchised)
• Headquartered in Mobile, Baldwin or Washington counties
