Happy 250th Birthday To The U.S. Marine Corps

The U.S. Marine Corps is celebrating its 250th birthday in November, dating back to 1775 when Captain Samuel Nicholas looked to recruit “a few good men” at a tavern in Pennsylvania. Guided by honor, courage and commitment, the U.S. Marine Corps works with the Navy, Army, Air Force and other military branches to act as a quick reaction force, ready to respond to crises around the world.

Today, nearly 170,000 Active-Duty marines serve our nation, often the first to charge into battle. These brave men and women do not hesitate to answer the call to fight for our freedom, providing our nation confidence in being ready for any challenge at a moment’s notice.

250 Years – An Enduring Legacy

Established to conduct ship-to-ship fighting and lead amphibious assaults, November 10, 1775, marked the birth of the Continental Marines, later becoming the U.S. Marine Corps. These courageous men led the first amphibious raid in United States history, becoming a highly adaptable and reliable fast-response force for the United States military over the past 250 years.

Serving in nearly every conflict since our nation’s founding, the U.S. Marine Corps serves valiantly, ready to conduct amphibious assaults or join the battle in the middle of a firefight. Marines have also provided humanitarian aid to countries in need and carried out disaster recovery operations, further establishing these men and women as true servants of the United States. The U.S. Marine Corps is always faithful and committed to steadfast loyalty to the United States and to each other.

Supporting Amphibious Strength

AASB Vessel in motion on waterSilver Ships has built a partnership with the U.S. Marine Corps, providing custom-built workboats for training and maritime operations. The Assault Amphibian Safety Boat (AASB) is a variant of our popular Ambar series and was tailored specifically for use by the U.S. Marine Corps.

These vessels are built to support a high capacity of passengers, have tailored communications and carry safety and rescue equipment. Working in tandem with Amphibious Assault Vehicles (AAVs) and Amphibious Combat Vehicles (ACVs), AASBs support unique amphibious training carried out by the U.S. Marine Corps and can be used to support offshore and nighttime operations.

Silver Ships is proud of its continued partnership with the U.S. Marine Corps, having delivered 31 AASBs to support their missions at home and at sea. Join us in honoring The Few and The Proud for 250 years of courage and commitment to defending our freedom.
